Eleanor Haas, Managing Director, is an authority on building new businesses and brands. She has had more than 25 years' experience advising clients on business development - including strategic planning, branding, patnering, communication, launching new initiaves and marketing to investors.
Prior to establishing The Calyx Group in 2000, she was a principal at E-Technologies Associates, a boutique investment bank; president of MarketQuest, a strategic advisory consultancy. Earlier, she headed The Haas Group, a B2B public relations firm with clients that included AT&T, Chase Manhattan Bank, Westinghouse Broadcasting & Cable (now CBS), and Crain's New York Business.
Ms. Haas is a member of the Advisory Board of the New York Tri-State Keiretsu Forum and the Board of Directors of the MIT Enterprise Forum of NYC, Inc. She was formerly on the board or advisory board of several Internet companies. She is a member of the MIT Enterprise Forum of NYC, Columbia Business School Club of New York and the New York New Tech Meetup. She participates in the Software and Information Indusry Association.
She has spoken at New York Software Industry Association's monthly meeting and annual conference, MIT Enterprise Forum of NYC symposia and the Internet World conference, among others; taught as an adjunct at New York University, and developed and conducted corporate training workshops. She holds a BA in French from Smith College. |

Laura Berland, Managing Director, an authority on strategic business and market development for digital businesses, helped pioneer Internet advertising in the mid-90s and brings clients over twenty five years of experience in the digital sector.
From 2007 to 2008, she served as consultant/SVP-Marketing to a new US offshoot of Aurix Ltd, which was developing a revolutionary digital video ad technology for a British-based leader in multimedia search.
For two years before that, she was VP-Marketing for the Cardean Learning Group, part of Mike Milken's Knowledge Universe education portfolio. Previously, she consulted to the President of Marketing, CBS Radio, where she spearheaded the development and implementation of streaming media services, Internet and e-commerce strategy for the CBS Radio network.
From 1996 to 2002, Ms. Berland was Co-founder and EVP of ORB Digital, an award-winning interactive marketing agency that developed groundbreaking customer acquisition, e-commerce, and search marketing programs for such clients as Sony Consumer Electronics, AT&T Wireless, Estee Lauder, Forbes, Coty, Direct TV, and Citibank.
At MCI from 1989 to 1995, she served in a variety of executive marketing roles for launches of multimedia, e-commerce, interactive voice and Internet services under Vint Cerf and was selected as a key member of the president's special task force for new media investment initiatives. Earlier she was Vice President, Marketing at LINK/IDC, an early analyst firm. She started her career at CompuServe and Showtime.
Named one of the top Women of Silicon Alley in the late 90s, she frequently spoke at such conferences the Jupiter Online Advertising Conference, Women's Leadership Exchange, and Gartner Group's E-Commerce Forum.
Ms. Berland is a certified yoga instructor, and serves as an advisor to the Board of the Give Back Yoga Foundation. She was a founding board member of Women in New Media and is currently a member of the Digital Video Committee of the Internet Advertising Bureau. She has taught online marketing and e-commerce at the NYU Stern School of Business. She holds a BS in Business and Communications from Cornell University and studied interactive telecommunications at the post-graduate level at New York University.
